Services for Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse
For many adult survivors, childhood sexual abuse can having lasting influence on thinking, feeling, behavior, and relationships. MOCSA provides a safe place for adult survivors who experienced sexual abuse as children to develop knowledge and skills for healing and change.
Life may be complicated by the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. Individual counseling services focus on improving the quality of life and are available for Missouri residents.
While healing begins with the individual, personal growth is often strengthened by opportunities to share with others. Ongoing support groups are available at MOCSA for Missouri and Kansas residents.
Adult Survivor Orientations are held for those interested in services and who want to learn more about services provided. Orientation sessions are the first step to healing.
MOCSA therapists provide supportive counseling through contemporary treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Exposure Therapy. Clients identify their own strengths and are supported as they navigate through their healing journey.
A bi-state 24-hour crisis line is answered by MOCSA staff and trained volunteers. The crisis line provides emotional support, crisis intervention, information and referrals, and problem solving to victims of sexual violence, as well as their significant others. The line is open to anyone who has questions or issues related to sexual violence.
