Man Up!
A MOCSA MENtoring Program

MOCSA Strength Club
Man Up! is the MOCSA program for men against sexual violence in Kansas City. MOCSA recognizes and embraces the vital role men play in the struggle to end sexual violence.
·         Mission: to empower men and boys to become active in the struggle to end sexual violence. Man Up! is focused on redefining manhood, mindsets, and behaviors through a multi-level education and awareness approach to boys and men
·         Services: Man Up! offers a variety of youth, community and professional education programs for children, youth and adults.

Man up! Basic Workshops create space for men to examine attitudes, promote respect and understand the unique vulnerabilities of women in our society. The workshops also address speaking out against factors that perpetuate sexual violence including moving from a “bystander” to one who stands up for respecting women. Through participation and completion of this experience men are encouraged to identify their own level of formal or informal involvement including: assisting with education, posting on the Man Up! Blog, identifying programming opportunities, or participating in discussion groups.
Teen Exchange for Boys - MOCSA’s Teen Exchange sexual violence prevention curriculum is available to be implemented for middle and high school age boys in an all male setting. This program provides a safe space for young men and boys to discuss these issues, and the unique pressures of being a man, with an adult male facilitator who serves as a role model and mentor to the students. Click here for more information on the Teen Exchange program.
Strength Clubs are MOCSA's multi-faceted programs offering a proven model and a vital next step for engaging and reeducating young men toward the crucial goal of reducing levels of violence (against men and women) long-term. The program aims to mobilize young men to find and use their strength for creating a culture free from violence, especially men’s violence against women. Strength Clubs provide a safe, structured, and supportive space to connect with male peers through exploring masculinity and male strength. Exposing young men to healthier, nonviolent models and visions of manhood, Strength Clubs challenge members to develop their own definitions of masculinity and to translate their learning into community leadership, progressive action, and social change.
