Sexual Assault Awareness Month

My Moment Our Moment SAAM 2020

2020 Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

All public events during April have been cancelled. We will be sharing updates here about online events and celebrations.

Every year during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, MOCSA honors survivors, supporters, volunteers, service providers, and community advocates by recognizing their experiences, contributions, and efforts to end and prevent sexual assault and abuse. This year MOCSA’s theme for SAAM is “My moment. Our momentum.” By acknowledging the individual experiences that inspire growth and propel the anti-violence movement, we can build a community where survivors are believed and supported, perpetrators are held accountable, and everyone is safer. Together we can create a community free from sexual assault and abuse.

As part of SAAM, we are launching the MOCSA StoryShare project. Storytellers will share personal moments in which they were moved to action, changed an idea or belief, or witnessed a cultural shift related to sexual violence. This project will become a collection of stories from volunteers, clients, community members, students, staff, and others who have been inspired or impacted by MOCSA’s mission. Anyone who is interested in being a part of MOCSA StoryShare is invited to submit audio, video, writing, or artwork for consideration here

In addition to StoryShare, MOCSA will be participating in national SAAM awareness events and local events throughout the month. Details about all of MOCSA’s SAAM activities will be updated here. Visit NSVRC for information about national SAAM initiatives.
